What Is Bribery and Corruption

In general terms, bribery may be committed when a person:

  • offers or acts for the benefit of another person
  • acts for their own benefit or the benefit of another person
  • acts dishonestly.

In such cases, any person who is an accomplice to the offence may also be guilty of bribery. It should be clarified that an act may be considered bribery even when cash is not used as the means. In addition, the person receiving the bribe is equally guilty as the person offering it.

Policy Application

This policy applies universally to all individuals employed by the Company.

Activities are considered acceptable when they are customary, appropriate, and properly recorded. For example, acceptable activities may include:

  • Standard hospitality
  • Offering a gift at a social event.

Business practices vary, and what is normal and acceptable in one place may not be in another.

The practice of providing business gifts and/or hospitality varies between companies, and what may be normal and acceptable in one company may not be in another.

What Is Never Acceptable

It is never acceptable to:

  • Bribe someone in order to gain a business advantage or to reward a business advantage already obtained.
  • Engage in any bribery to “facilitate” or expedite a routine process.
  • Accept a gift from a third party if it is offered or provided on the condition that a business advantage will be granted in return.

Protection and Handling of a Potential Incident

Geniki Taxydromiki will thoroughly investigate any actual or suspected breach of this policy. Employees may be subject to disciplinary measures, which may lead up to dismissal. In cases involving third parties found to be bribing or attempting to bribe employees of Geniki Taxydromiki, the relevant authorities will be notified immediately.

Employees who refuse to accept or offer a bribe, or those who raise concerns or report other unlawful activities, may sometimes worry about potential repercussions. The aim is to encourage employees to raise their suspicions even if they turn out to be mistaken.

We are committed to ensuring that no one suffers any detrimental treatment as a result of refusing to engage in bribery or corruption. Any potential bribery or other corruption-related offence, whether already occurred or likely to occur in the future, may result in dismissal and disciplinary action.
