Service Limitations Due to Covid

The unpredictably prolonged suspension of retail store operations and the completely uncertain forecast regarding their reopening have created intense pressure on all transport networks. This pressure is expected to intensify in the coming days due to the holiday season, since traditionally this period sees a sharp increase in retail sales which, under the current circumstances, are entirely fulfilled through online purchases and therefore reach the buyer via courier services.

At Geniki Taxydromiki, we have proactively developed the necessary infrastructure to handle volumes up to 60% higher compared to “normal” periods. Nevertheless, the market demand is already exceeding this capacity, with immediate consequences such as operational disruptions (delays, errors, damages, complaints, etc.). It is worth noting that, in many cases, there is a complete lack of understanding from users (senders or recipients), a misunderstanding related to an entirely incorrect and significantly underestimated perception of the courier service, which is the core business activity of Geniki Taxydromiki.

Under these conditions, and for as long as this abnormal situation persists, we are obliged to take certain measures in order to both maintain a good level of service as Geniki Taxydromiki, and to ensure that our staff can continue to work under as humane conditions as possible.

Within this framework:

  1. All additional services are suspended immediately, with the exception of the basic shipping service — either standard or cash-on-delivery. (For example, services such as special deliveries, Saturday delivery, delivery to remote areas, etc. are suspended.)

  2. For any urgent case, the new “VIP Delivery” service can be used. (Note: It comes at a higher cost, is available only in specific areas, and has limited capacity.) This service was created precisely for such exceptional situations.
